Founded in January 2016 by Zakaria Mall, Agence Komkifo is a private independent agency for the cultural development of La Réunion and the Indian Ocean. Based in Saint-Denis, Réunion, it works across performing arts, publishing, cultural events, music, media and cultural engineering — a full 360° cultural structure serving artists, communities and institutions.
Komkifo carries two publishing houses, two cultural associations, two online bookshops, a media outlet and a radio programme. Its think tank, the Laboratoire Batarsite — named after Daniel Waro, the master of Réunion maloya — is the intellectual engine behind its mission to valorise Creole cultures and Indian Ocean heritage.
In 2022, Komkifo brought a regional cooperation show to Caudan Arts Centre, Port-Louis — a tribute to Dev Virahsawmy. FET KAYA 2026 marks a new chapter of that same Indian Ocean bridge.

1ers Jeux des Arts et de la Culture de l'Océan Indien
ZILANZIL — the first Indian Ocean Arts & Culture Games — is born from a simple and necessary idea: to connect the thoughts, languages and Creole creativities of our region. Built by Komkifo's research laboratory Ter Kréol, it creates a shared space where art, craft and language circulate freely between our islands.
Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues and the Seychelles each send a delegation of 10 — competing and collaborating across 8 disciplines: storytelling, poetry, humour, song, literature, fashion, cultural crafts and painting. The official languages of the Games are the Creoles.
The Games unfold over four days across Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill, the Institut Français de Maurice, the Centre Culturel Nelson Mandela — and the finale on 25 July at Caudan Arts Centre: awards night and closing performance. The same stage. The same night as FET KAYA.
