KAYA
KAYA's first major Marley interpretation album — ten Bob Marley classics rendered in Seggae, with the Racine Rebels band. Released on Meli Melo (Mauritius/Réunion). A pivotal release that demonstrated KAYA's unique capacity to transpose Rastafari roots music into the Mauritian seggae idiom.

Ersatz Of Bob Marley is the first in a series of Marley interpretation albums by KAYA, followed by Chante Marley (1996) and J.R. Topize Sing Marley (1999). The title "Ersatz" — meaning a substitute or imitation — is characteristically self-aware, acknowledging the interpretive nature of the project while delivering seggae readings of enduring power.
The Racine Rebels band was the primary backing ensemble for KAYA's Meli Melo period recordings. Full personnel documentation is in progress.
